The origins and foundations of Feng Shui

Feng Shui is both a millennial empirical science and an ancestral Chinese art that today studies home and business places to understand how they interact with individuals over time.

Feng Shui, which means "wind" and "water", symbolizes the movement of the energy which is dispersed by the wind (in connection with the Sky) until it meets the water (in connection with the Earth) and stops to then spread to supply the villages and the people around. Feng Shui has its origins in the observation and study of the cycles of nature which has been done for more than 4000 years by mathematicians, astronomers, etc. and which objective was initially to find the best locations to build villages, in order to guarantee abundant cultures that would feed families and ensure the best possible longevity. Time being cyclical for the Chinese, while it is linear with us, those scientists were able to correlate the movements and cycles of Heaven with those of nature and man.

Feng Shui is one of the 5 traditional Chinese arts, like traditional Chinese medicine, which all share the same notions of Qi, Yin and Yang, meridians, cycle of the 5 elements, etc. All of these approaches work on balancing and harmonizing the life energy that circulates in each of us.

Feng Shui, for its part, focuses on understanding the energy that circulates in our interiors to understand the energy that circulates in us..
